BASIC INTERVIEW QUESTIONS

BASIC INTERVIEW QUESTIONS

Q:-1-Tell me about yourself?
Ans:- Answer in about two minutes. Avoid details. Prepare in advance using this formula:
1. “My name is ______________
2. I have Done /Perusing_______
3. I am basically from__________
4. “Currently, I am a [title] at [company]“ or I have ______months/years of Experience.
5. “I love the challenge of my work, especially the major strengths it allows me to offer, including [A, B, and C]“.
6. Second, help the interviewer by focusing the question with a question of your own: “What about me would be most relevant to you and what this company needs?”

Q:-2-Did you bring your resume?
Ans:- Yes. Be prepared with two or three extra copies. Do not offer them unless you are asked for one.

Q:-3-What do you know about our organization?
Ans:- Research the target company before the interview. Basic research is the only way to prepare for this question. Do your homework, and you will score big on this question. Talk about products, services, history and people, especially any friends that work there. “But I would love to know more, particularly from your point of view. Do we have time to cover that now?

Q:-4-What experience do you have?
Ans:-Try to cite experience relevant to the company’s concerns. Also, try answering this questions with a question: “Are you looking for overall experience or experience in some specific area of special interest to you?” Let the interviewer’s response guide your answer.

Q:-5-What are your strong points?
Ans:- Present three. Relate them to that particular company and job opening.

Q:-6-What are your weak points?
Ans:- Don’t say you have one, but give one that is really a “positive in disguise.” I am sometimes impatient and do to much work myself when we are working against tight deadlines.” Or “I compliment and praise my staff, but feel I can improve.”

Q:-7-How long would you stay with us?
Ans:- As long as I feel that I m contributing, and that my contribution is recognized. I am looking to make a long term commitment.”

Q:-8-Why do you want to work for us?
Ans:- You feel you can help achieve the companies objectives, especially in the short run. You like what you’ve learned about the company, its policies, goals and management: “I’ve researched the company and people tell me it’s a good place to work.”

Q:-9-What was the last book you read? Movie you saw? Sporting event you attended?
Ans:- Think this through. Your answer should be compatible with accepted norms.

Q:-10-What would you do for us?
Ans:- Relate past success in accomplishing the objectives which are similar to those of the prospective employer.

Q:-11-What are your career goals?
Ans: - Talk first about doing the job for which you are applying. Your career goals should mesh with the hiring company goals.

Q:-12-What Are your Hobbies?
Ans:-first think than answer, hobbies should be meaningful, should be related to your job profile

Q:-13 -Why should we hire you?
Ans:- This may sound suspicious, negative, or just plain harsh. Actually, its a call for help. The employer wants you to help him/her hire you. Keep your response brief. Recap any job requirements the interviewer may have mentioned earlier in the interview, then, point by point, match your skills, abilities and qualifications to those items. Relate a past experience which represents success in achieving objectives which may be similar to those of the prospective employer.

GRE TOEFL GATE

GRE

The Graduate Record Examination is a Standardized test that measures verbal, mathematical and analytical skills. It is intended to help the graduate schools (of all fields other than business) assess the potential of applicants for advanced study . Nearly 2300 universities in the US require GRE® scores from each applicant.

The GRE tests the fundamental skills - Reasoning and Comprehension included - and does not require any subject-specific theoretical study. (This is true only for the General GRE Test, and not the GRE Subject, which is required by certain universities. In this section, we mean the General GRE Test whenever we refer to the GRE Test)

The test is designed in such a way that it would be unlike any other test you would have taken at school or college. First, the test has no question paper or answer sheets, nor does it have the same set of questions for all the examinees. Further, it does not give you the option of not answering a question (unless, of course, you run out of time at the end). All this because the GRE Test is an entirely Computer based test - the keyboard and mouse do the work of a pen or pencil. The test is scored out of 1600 (in multiples of 10).

The GRE Test is only one of several parameters which the graduate schools look at to determine the selection of an applicant. A high score alone does not translate into an admission offer from a great school. But the test can be looked upon as the first major hurdle to be cleared in the process of getting admission into a Graduate school of your choice.

TOEFL

The TOEFL test is taken by students who are interested in furthering their academic careers and want to demonstrate a proficiency in North American English. The competitiveness of school admissions dictates a good TOEFL score as a minimum to even be considered by some colleges. The TOEFL test covers 3 content areas: Writing, Reading, and Listening. You will not find social studies, chemistry, physics and biology on the TOEFL, unless a few of these topics are covered indirectly on the sections.

The TOEFL test is designed to be one of the first hurdles in your academic career. Consequently, the questions focus on your ability to apply knowledge that you have learned in past experiences related to the English Language. The TOEFL test requires that you understand the underlying concepts of the English language.

The key TOEFL testing tips are stated as follows:

1. Improve your writing skills.

2. Review reading passages that frequently occur on the TOEFL test.

3. Improve your vocabulary.

4. Be familiar with the format of the TOEFL test.

5. Practice intensely for the listening test on the TOEFL test.

The hours of studying and class work are finally worth it when you gain acceptance into the school or job of your choice.
